GENFUEL

GENFUEL – ADDRESSING FUNDAMENTAL CHALLENGES IN THE DESIGN OF NEW GENERATION FUELS, Marie-Curie Action Project, Industry-Academia Partnership Pathways, 7FP, 2014-2018

Genfuel Project encompasses the design of road transport fuels, mid-level ethanol blends, safe handling of fuels, deflagration, water foot printing, chemical kinetics, pre-ignition, knock, life cycle analysis.

Work package 6

PhD. Wojciech Rudy as a Marie-Curie Fellow has been working on the WP6 under supervision of Prof. Andrzej Teodorczyk (Warsaw University of Technology), Prof. Vladimir Molkov (Ulster University), Prof. Dmitriy Makarov (Ulster University) and Ph.D. Andrzej Pekalski (Shell UK).The objective of WP6 ‘Safe handling of sustainable fuels’ is to gain a better insight into the complex phenomena of deflagration to detonation transition (DDT) for sustainable fuels by studying the mixtures of hydrocarbon air in a realistic large scale situation. The transition towards greater use of sustainable fuels has the potential for introducing new explosion hazards that need to be mitigated. This package seeks to better understand these risk, develop tools for modelling then and hence enable mitigation strategies to be put in place.
